Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath suggested on Friday that the construction of a major Ram temple in Ayodhya has only become possible because a Bharatiya Janata party-led government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is at the helm of the center and asked if the project would not have taken place. was feasible under a dispensation from Congress.
Speaking at a rally in Morbi town of Wankaner town in support of BJP candidate Jitu Somani, Adityanath said it is time to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s wish to dissolve the Congress and claimed the opposition party was unable to protect the country .
Somani is contesting from the seat of the Wankaner Assembly, where elections will be held on December 1 in the first phase.
The chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, a star campaigner of the BJP, said that the now-repealed Article 370 of the constitution was the root cause of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Like Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh will also be headed by Prime Minister Modi. And the result is before our eyes. You must have seen that the construction of a great Ram Temple (in Ayodhya) has begun.
“Similarly, Kashi Vishwanath Dham in Varanasi now looks majestic. It’s completely changed. That’s why we say ‘Modi hai toh mumkin hai’ (When Modi is there, everything is possible),” said Yogi.
The BJP leader turned to the Congress trying to find out whether a Ram temple in Ayodhya and repeal of Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir, would have been possible if the main opposition party in the center sided to the power had been.
“Do you think the Ram Temple in Ayodhya could have been built had the Congress been in power? Or could Kashi Vishwanath Temple have become awe-inspiring under Congress? “Modiji and (Interior Minister) Amit Shahji abolished Article 370, which was the root cause of terrorism. Was it possible under Congress?” Adityanath asked, to which people at the meeting replied “no.”
The BJP leader further claimed that the opposition party cannot protect the country nor respect people’s faith, stating that both things were only possible under Prime Minister Modi.
“Mahatma Gandhi had said after independence that the Congress should be dissolved. It’s time to fulfill his wish. As the BJP and its government work, I see both the seats of the Morbi district (Wankaner and Morbi) will go to the BJP,” said Adityanath, seeking votes for Somani.
The election battle in Gujarat is between nationalism and those who oppose the nation, between nationalism and terrorism and between development and destruction, he said.
The BJP leader said it was the “Gujarat model” established by Modi as the CM of the state that gave new lives to 135 crore people during the coronavirus pandemic.
“Under this model, the Center gave free rations and free vaccines. New arrangements were announced for the poor. We gave free ration to 80 crore people (nationwide), nothing like this has happened anywhere in the world. Not only the country, the whole world is taking note of the Gujarat model,” he said.
The vote to elect a new 182-member Gujarat assembly will take place in two phases – December 1 and 5 – and ballots will be counted on December 8.
