The attack by the opposition party came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the logo, theme and website for the group’s upcoming presidency in India.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the G20 logo was inspired by the vibrant colors of the national flag of India: saffron, white and green and blue. It places planet Earth next to the lotus, India’s national flower that reflects growth amid challenges.
Commenting on the logo’s unveiling, Jairam Ramesh, the Secretary General of Congress, said, “More than 70 years ago, Nehru rejected the proposal to allow Congress to flag India’s flag. Now the BJP election symbol has become the official logo of the Indian presidency of the G20!” “Although shocking, we now know that Mr.Modi & BJP don’t miss an opportunity to shamelessly promote themselves!” Ramesh said on Twitter.
