Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and the party’s state unit leader CR Patil met Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Friday, sources said. The meeting took place at the prime minister’s official residence and the three leaders likely discussed various issues related to Gujarat, they said.
The meeting comes hours after the Election Commission announced that parliamentary elections will be held in Himachal Pradesh on November 12. The polling panel is expected to announce election dates in Gujarat later this month. Gujarat elections were held in early December 2017.
The BJP has won Gujarat six times in a row and has been in power for 27 years. This time the Aam Aadmi party is trying to penetrate the stronghold of the saffron party, where the congress was the traditional rival.
